Dasniya Sommer is a performance artist and co – founder of Schwelle7. In the broadest sense her work is an examination in the field of personal relations. She explores patterns of behaviour in the realm of emotional and physical bounds and analyses how these are linked towards thinking.
Beside the aesthetic experience the combination of Dance, Yoga and BDSM
creates for her general questions around different systems of value and is hence also a political investigation.
Dasniya studied classical and contemporary dance in Berlin and New York. She worked with the Cie Felix Ruckert and for the State Ballet Berlin. Since she was kid she was trained in different schools of Yoga and meditation. Among others she was tought by Amnuay Baddhanasiri, Ajarn Poh ( Thailand ) and Stefan Dreher.

Yoga and Japanese Bondage
EVERY THURSDAY FROM 7 - 11 P.M.

Shibari (also known as Japanese Bondage) is an erotic art of tying that developed in Japan from the military bondage system Hojojutsu. Unlike western bondage, Shibari uses bondage not only for immobilization. The bondage can also take aesthetic forms and become a work of art in its own right.

My way of doing Shibari is informed by my training and experience as a dancer and yoga teacher. The harmonic connection between intuition and technique plays the primary role. Technique should be mastered as well as possible so that one can concentrate on the emotional and creative content of the work. Nothing is worse than a bondage practitioner whose entire attention is taken up by knots. In order to reach this goal, I ask from my students- independent of their preferences- to train both aspects of the process: tying, but also being tied. Each act of bondage is different, as every relationship between two people is different. The perception and development of relationship is of great importance to me. From relationship, a game of overpowering and losing control can develop, or one dealing rather with protection and caring for another. Sometimes an aesthetic or meditative aspect takes the foreground.

Trust on both sides plays a great role. Being tied means freely giving oneself up, knowingly surrendering to a situation of defenselessness. For the person tying, this can lead to quite varied reactions, unleashing protective instincts or sadistic impulses. The goal is not to avoid these feelings, but rather to integrate them into the game.

One should also evaluate the physical stresses involved in bondage. Since some bondage techniques can be dangerous if improperly practiced, tying someone is a great responsibility. The person tying must have as much courage and ability to surrender as the person being tied. The person being tied, on the other hand, is more than a passive model. With his/her body, s/he gives form to the technique. The person being tied should therefore know how knots are supposed to be located on the body, so that s/he can play with the bondage s/he is in. By his/her behavior and communication skills, the person being tied has a decisive role in the success of the scene.

Body awareness and a certain level of fitness are great helps in bondage. So, I usually begin my classes with a few Yoga exercises to train attention, muscle strength and discipline, as well as relaxation, surrender and letting go. A bondage session doesn't have to be painful, but one should, as in Yoga, be able to distinguish between healing and damaging pain. Many body positions in bondage are similar to classical Yoga poses. This formal aspect of the class is strengthened and given additional meaning by the use of rope.

The course is designed for all who want to experiment with themselves and others and to learn. To have new, limit-pushing physical experiences. To further or bring into question existing sexuality and ways of playing. Or, to all those who would like to play with rope and the body in active or receptive roles, and those who have been wanting
to try this out for a long time. In short: To beginners and experienced players.

In the first part of the class (7-8:30 pm) each person will focus on themselves and the functional use of rope with the body. The second part (8:30-11pm) will be dedicated to bondage practice and communicative elements of a game.

It is not necessary to come with a partner.

I look forward to shared work, play, exchange, and inspiration.

Yoga
Sundays from 7 pM - 9pm
THE MiNIMALIST BODY / EMOTION
The basic topic of this class is to develop a feeling for our own anatomy in its crude form and in its subtle motions. It is to understand how body parts like legs, arms, feet, etc. are related to each other on a sensory layer instead of only recognizing them mentally or visually. Yoga needs time and persistence. Becoming aware of a sudden breath or noticing our current attitude brings one back from the outside into oneself. This condition is valuable for dancers and performers, but also in everyday life.

As a first step we study the basic Yoga postures or Asanas.  In this technique the practitioner concentrates on detailed placement of single body parts. Every posture is a different situation both emotionally and anatomically, for example, in terms of the coordination of muscle tones, counter-balancing, rotation and general mobility of the spine and chest. It is a practise, which combines strength, concentration and permeability, and hence creates a fluent and alert perception of the current moment. As one advances, breathing and Inner Posture become more important. These progress from an ordinary state towards a happening.

FEES: 10 Euro / 8 € for students and low - income earners
